BF6 Gamers Are Convinced: Challenges Are Excessively Difficult

The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, live player figures peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, many players are protesting against several of the title's toughest challenges, which are required to obtain particular firearms.

Users have commenced resorting to tailored sessions set up using the custom game tool to finish these tasks, underscoring just how grueling these challenges have become.

Understanding BF6 Assignments

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. It features four types of assignments, but where most only reward cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one primary weapons available in the game.

A number of these restricted firearms might eventually earn a place on rosters of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration via Reddit

Within Reddit, players are reasonably voicing their concerns about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. A particular gamer pointed out one of the most egregious examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so awful and totally unreasonable, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it has significantly fewer advantages in battle as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

Additionally, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and is effective only at very short distances, which isn't typically where you aim to be. The commenter also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that task would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Extremely Difficult Mission

A different forum member brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to unlock the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons

This is difficult enough on its own, but there's another important point to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine levels in the game currently, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, another expansive area, and possibly a classic map if you're lucky if you want to snipe from over 200m away.

The Alternative Method

Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. The custom game creator is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This allows you can cheese the system… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.

But when doing the challenges in a proper game feels like anti-playing, since you must engage in such an atypical style that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for finishing these in a custom game so allies are not impaired?

Future Adjustments

It is expected if a number of these missions are toned down in the coming days or weeks, because if they're not, certain gamers simply will never acquire the gated weapons.

For now, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these challenging in-game tasks, hoping for a fairer gaming experience in future updates.
