Springfield's Favorite Family Arrives in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Car You're Hoping For

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Fortnite, but that's not the only place where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to Rocket League, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in Fortnite. That said, whether players will truly desire to equip it is another question, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons vehicle the community is eager to drive, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

While many gamers would undoubtedly love to face off behind the wheel of Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical automobile Homer designed himself in the 1991 installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—regrettably, that isn't what's being offered. Not even receiving the massive SUV, the enormous vehicle featured in the tenth season. Rather, fans are getting the Simpsons' everyday well-worn four-door, which they've been driving since 1989. Though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an iconic symbol of the series. For those who analyze the game's car hitboxes, the trusty sedan uses the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the only customization item from the show arriving in Rocket League. The event will additionally feature a series of objectives to earn more rewards, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a official announcement, the missions will task players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's seasons, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ house, and drive a distance sufficient for picking up the perfect donuts!"

Although the full lineup of challenge rewards hasn't been revealed, here is what has been confirmed so far:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

Based on promotional images is any indication, it seems players will also get wheels featuring a TV showing the show's opening credits, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects themed to burning tires and Krusty Burger.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

This event lines up with the major The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which brings a brand-new map of Springfield, in addition to a 30-day Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons celebration launches on November 1st and concludes on November 17th.
