Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Arrives, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will send Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Iconic Releases
Much like the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will see the return of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release near the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
